UI Recovery protects users from losing unsaved work when the server node restarts or crashes, the HTTP session is lost, or the browser closes. While the user works, the add-on automatically saves unsaved changes of a view as a draft and offers to restore it when the user opens the same view again. This works on a single node, in a cluster, and after a full application restart.
Key capabilities:
- Autosave unsaved data changes and values of components not bound to data as drafts in the database.
- Enable recovery per view in the XML descriptor using the
draftsfacet, without writing any code. Implement custom restore logic for views that need it. - Ask the user before restoring a draft and warn them if the record has changed since the draft was saved. Silent restore is available for views that prefer it.
- Restore only the attributes the user changed, leaving other attributes intact even if someone else modified them in the meantime.
- Keep drafts private: each draft belongs to one user and is never visible to others.
- Show the list of the user's drafts after login. Users can open a draft in its view or discard it.
